An interesting collection of letters between William Pitt, the 1st Earl of Chatham, to his nephew, Thomas Pitt during his studies at the University of Cambridge. Thomas Pitt later became the 1st Baron Camelford, and sat in the House of Commons from 1761 until 1784. William Pitt, the 1st Earl of Chatham, was a British Whig politician who served as Prime Minister of Great Britain from 1766 to 1768. Edited by Lord William Grenville, the British Tory politician and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1806 until 1807. The fascinating advice of a notable Prime Minister in British history. With a bookseller's label for, 'G. Cruickshank', to the front pastedown and the previous owner's neat ink signature to the front blank. Calf boards rebacked with a morocco spine. Externally, smart with rubbing to the extremities. Marks to the boards. Rear hinge starting but firm. Bookseller's label to the front paste-down. The front hinge has been repaired. Spotting to the reverse of the free endpapers. Ink mark to the reverse of the rear free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages age-toned but generally bright and clean. The odd spot throughout. Previous owner's ink signature to the front blank. Very Good. book.
