Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Books are still among the most important cultural achievements of humanity. Their invention was as important as the Internet: for the first time, a mass transfer of information became possible. Education, science, research, but also entertainment was based on a new revolutionary basis. Books are changing society until today. The technical possibilities of mass printing led to a radical increase in titles in the 18th and 19th centuries. Nevertheless, the conditions were still very different than today: Who wrote a book at that time, often wrote a life's work. This is reflected in the high quality of old books.Unfortunately, books age. Paper is not made for eternity. Therefore, we have made it our mission to preserve the book of knowledge of humanity and to make old books available in high quality at low prices.

A Treatise of the Law of Waters; Including the Law Relating to Rights in the Sea, and Rights Concerning Rivers, Canals, Dock Companies, Fisheries, Mills, Watercourses, Etc., with a Note Concerning the Rights of the Crown to the Land Between High and Low Water Mark. Attractive Smythe sewn tan cloth hardcover with red gilt lettered cover and spine. New. $95. * Reprint of the first American edition, from the second London edition, 1851, to which it is starred. First published in 1830, A Treatise of the Law of Waters is a comprehensive work notable for its clear explanation of several complex areas, such as the law of fisheries. It begins with a summary of various water rights, then proceeds to consider non-commercial rights in the seas and rivers, canals, docks, waterworks, fisheries and water mills. The final chapter addresses watercourses, which he defines as private rights of water. In all, Woolrych offers a superb overview of Anglo-American water law as it stood in the mid-nineteenth century. A prolific and learned scholar, Woolrych [1795-1871] wrote several treatises and biographies including Lives of Eminent Serjeants-at-Law, which is available as a Lawbook Exchange reprint.

Cloth. Zustand: Very Good Indeed. None (illustrator). First edition. A scarce first edition copy of this legal work by noted legal writer, Humphrey W Woolrych. Rebound in a very smart quarter cloth binding with marbled paper boards. Complete with half-title. To the preface, Woolrych notes that it has now been over a century since a 'distinct Treatise on the subject of Commonable Rights has been presented to the Public'. He therefore states that it would be unlikely that people would be familiar with these laws. 'It has been the object of the Author of this Treatise, which he submits with much diffidence to the Public, to examine particularly each species of Common, to investigate the rights of Lords and Commoners' Woolrych looks at the history and origin of Rights of Common in England, before discussing the various types of Rights and Acts relating to this. Humphry William Woolrych was an English lawyer who is remembered for his many legal and biographical writings which made many aspects of the Law accessible to a wider audience. Other works by him include 'Laws of Waters and Sewers', 'Law of Window Lights', 'New Highways Act'. An accessible and well-described insight into this part of English law. Rebound, in a lovely quarter cloth binding with marbled paper boards. Externally, excellent with minor shelfwear. Prior owner's inscriptions to the recto of front endpaper and to the half-title. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright. Prior owner's occasional marginal notes and underlining in pencil to the occasional page. The notations do not obstruct the text. Light spots to the first and last few pages, otherwise just the odd spots to pages. Very Good Indeed. book.
