Zustand: Sehr gut. 135 S. Einband leicht berieben. - Turner's love of poetry is now recognised as fundamental to his creative process. From an early age he immersed himself in the poets of antiquity - Homer, Virgil, Ovid and thence proceeded to the Augustan poets, Alexander Pope and James Thomson. In the second half of his career he turned to the poets of his own day, and above all to Lord Byron. Of all modern poets, it was Byron whose work came to speak most powerfully to Turner, and to whom he looked for inspiration and quotation. From 1818, Turner exhibited a remarkable series of paintings with quotations from Byron's most celebrated poem, Childe Harold's Pilgrimage, and in the early 1830s he produced a distinguished set of landscape vignettes and illustrations to Byron's poetry, life and times for publication by John Murray and the brothers Finden. Echoes and influences from Byron can be found in much of Turner's later work. ISBN 9781854370976 Sprache: Englisch Gewicht in Gramm: 550 Mit zahlr. auch farb. Abb. Originalbroschur.
