Erstausgabe
8vo. pp. xxiv, [25]-642, [blank leaf], [32]ads. 11 folding lithographed battle plans. modern quarter calf |(small library rubberstamp on title & number stamp on dedication leaf]. First American Edition. A standard work on the subject, based on a large amount of information gathered from surviving officers of the campaign. Siborne also constructed a model of the field of Waterloo, which occupied his leisure time for eight years and cost him nearly 3000 pounds, a sum he never recovered. It was originally commissioned by the commander-in-chief but government funding was cut off in 1833. The model was exhibited publicly in London and other places, and is now the property of the Royal United Service Institution. Siborne also constructed a smaller model on a larger scale of a portion of the field of battle.
