Tissue-guarded frontispiece. 7.75 inches tall, 394 pages. Henry Giles after moving to the United Sates in 1840 wrote, lectured and was well-received. He was a Unitarian minister born in County Wexford to a Roman Catholic family, Giles changed his religious belief several times, becoming a Protestant and a Dissenter and finally a Unitarian. These lectures published shortly after the American Civil War include among the topics of Irish History: Irish immigration, Daniel O'Connell, John Philpot Curran, Ireland and the Irish in 1848.
