Hardcover - Illustrated deluxe edition. Probably the most attractive hardcover format this series was issued in. The fourth title in the series, in this slightly larger format (used only on the 1st 15 titles of the series, between 1965 and 1969), with matte illustrated boards and full-color endpapers with oval portraits of Trixie and Honey. The early books in this series introduce most of the major characters and develop a sense of place; Trixie's home in the Hudson River valley was modeled on Campbell's own home (just as her younger brother Bobby was modeled on her son). Trixie is a real girl, who learns from her mistakes and and is all too quick sometimes to jump to conclusions about people. In this book, Trixie and Honey befriend Diana Lynch, who becomes a regular member of the Bob-Whites. 15 titles listed in book. Cover and full-page illustrations by Paul Frame in both full color and duo-tone. 252 pp. Very good+ (usual toning to the pages, a bit of edgewear to the boards, but a straight and tight copy, no writing in book).
