Tight American pocket edition of two titles by the English minister and hymn writer Isaac Watts printed by John I. Williams. Watts is renowned for his contribution to English Hymnody by adding new poetry to original Christian verse as well as his rendition of Psalms for church services to be "imitated in the language of the New Testament." (Stephen Marini). His hymns are still in use today and have been translated into other languages. Contains tables to find Psalms and Hymns by the first line in both titles. Binding with some wear along edges and rubbed, gilt on spine fading. Occasional small chips and tears and creasing at corners of block. Some age toning and foxing throughout. Faded decorative stamp of previous owner on back endpaper. Binding and interior in overall good condition.

Heavily toned with loss on the perimeter of the title page and a dampstain on the last 6 pages. Lacking all blank preliminaries. The bindings are tight and square. Text clean, Minimal shelf handling wear. A scarce religious piece and very early American Imprint from the Federal Period by Isaac Watts, an English theologian and hymn writer, theologian, and logician. He was a prolific and popular hymn writer and is credited with some 750 hymns. His works include 'When I Survey the Wondrous Cross', 'Joy to the World', and 'Our God, Our Help in Ages Past'.
