264, 255 Seiten. Dunkelgrüne Lederbände d. Zt. mit zweif. Filetenvergoldung mit Eckfleurons, goldgepr. Deckelvignette, Steh- u. Innenkantenvergoldung sowie dreif. Goldschnitt (etwas fleckig u. etwas berieben). Softcover. Zustand: Very Good. Unknown edition. Folio. [4] 3pp [5]. Stapled wrappers with a die-cut oval on the front wrapper revealing a black-and-white photograph of Miss Gertrude Elliott and Mr. Forbes Robertson with their facsimile signatures underneath. Gift inscription on the front wrapper dated 1902 (the same year this production premiered), wrappers detached but present and mostly separated along the spine, a dampstain to the bottom corner of a blank terminal page, and a tear at the bottom corner of the rear endpaper, very good. For voice and piano. Robert Burns initially published this song in 1794 and since then numerous composers have written their own music to accompany his words. This publication credits the poetry to Burns, but fails to specify a composer. However, it does specify that this version was "sung by Miss Gertrude Elliot in Madeleine Lucette Ryley's Play *Mice and Men* at the Lyric Theatre, London." We were unable to locate a copy of this edition in *OCLC*. A seemingly scarce and uniquely presented edition of this classic Scottish song.

Ownership inscription of Katherine Pyndar (?The gift of her father?), dated 1802 in vols. 1-4 and 1810 in vol. 5. An unsophisticated copy of the ?third edition? of the collected works, following the 1800 Liverpool edition and the 1801 London second edition (plus an 1801 Philadelphia reprint). The textual changes between the editions were minor, and the frontispiece is in fact the same plate (with its own imprint dated 1800) reused across the three. Lamont 73; Egerer 101-2.
