Hayes, who was best known for his introduction of the telegraph system to Portland, Oregon. This novel surrounds the idea of life-after-death, in particular to an afterlife on Mars. Hayes presents different events and arrivals on the planet, such as 'Lincoln's Birthday on Planet Mars', 'The Planet Mars Enjoys a Telegraphers Tournament' and 'Our Canadian Brothers on Planet Mars'. Illustrated with a frontispiece of the author. In the publisher's paper wraps. Externally, very good, with light edge wear and some rubbing to the spine. A little discolouration to the extremities and a pencil inscription to the front panel. Staples are a touch strained but holding firm. Internally, firmly bound with bright, clean pages. Very Good. book.
